You Shook Me…
…All Night Long – ACDC (guitar solo)
You Shook Me All Night Long (solo) PDF
Here’s another classic solo for everyone, a fabulous use of major and minor pentatonics and some killer bending ideas. I feel the real lesson value of this piece is in the bends–very creative usage on Angus’ part–some are half-step or whole step, and others are pre-bends, so pay careful attention to them. Angus uses a fast, somewhat wide vibrato (sometimes while holding a bend) so keep that in mind as well. It’s not a speedy solo, which allows plenty of time to articulate every note correctly. Getting control over this may take some time.
About pinch harmonics
For time’s sake I excluded explaining in this video what pinch harmonics are, but since Angus throws them into the solo you should learn about what they are and how to do them (plus they FREAKIN’ rock!) If you’d like to learn more you may check out a video here.
