Open Power Chords
Open Power Chords
Open power chords are an important part of rock guitar playing. Removing the thirds of our open chords gives them more harmonic stability under high-gain settings, increased sustain, and more finger-friendly options for playing. The grip on the fretting hand is very important–you will have to lean over strings by fretting some notes more on the finger pad vs the fingertip. Study the shapes closely and try chaining them together–sometimes you’re closer to an ACDC riff than you might think!
